Is abstract art(paintings) a thing of the past?

i am an abstract artist and i find that the internet art sites is overwhelmed with abstract art lot of which is just junk ..i realize that art is in the eye of the beholder but i feel i dont have a chance of selling anything considering the overload of art that is now available ..i am not one to squirt a few lines of paint on a canvas ,smear it and put it up for sale ....what has happened to good meaninful art? appreciate a serious response but will take whatever fedback comes my way...just getting frustrated with my work i suppose ...thank you so much!!
