Did all black people have a horrible life in the 1920's?

I am 16,African American and I really dislike this generation especially the music except for neo soul cause Erykah Badu,Jill Scott,Angie Stone have some really good songs.I really wish I could have lived in the 1920's,blacks had way more respect for one another and kids knew how to act.I like Earth wind and fire,Motown like Stevie Wonder,The Supremes,Martha and the Vandellas,Luther Vandross although these artists are more 60's to 1980's,even some classical jazz but black kids have no role models.All Beyonce sings about is sex and thats not traditional soul and rappers are just vulgar in their lyrics except for 80's and 90's rap but the 1920's had better culture and better music.I looked on worldstarhiphop and these girls were fighting outside a restaurent and one of the girls were seriously injured and the poilce came,I have seen police AT my school to break up fist fights between 6 or more people.People were more respectful back then.
